EU Entry/Exit System fully operational from April 10 2026

The EU's Entry/Exit System (EES) is now fully in place, with operations starting April 10 2026.

It will record data at Schengen borders for travelers who are not EU or Schengen citizens.

The system does not apply to EU or Schengen citizens, to people with long‑stay visas, overseas‑territory visas or residence permits, nor to nationals of Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City.

At the border, authorities will keep the information from the travel document and details of the crossing itself, such as entry and exit times and location.
