Pakistan Ends Free Visa on Arrival for 34 African Nations

Pakistan has ended its free Visa on Arrival program for citizens of 34 African nations. Starting January 1, 2026, travelers from these countries can no longer obtain a zero-fee, 90-day multiple-entry visa upon arrival.

Affected passport holders must now apply through Pakistan's standard online e-Visa platform before traveling. The mandatory e-Visa system introduces required fees and additional administrative steps for visitors.

The policy shift impacts tourists, students, and business travelers from major commercial hubs including Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa. Tourism operators in countries such as Mauritius, Seychelles, and Morocco warn that higher travel costs could dampen leisure travel.
