Burkina Faso's entry rules exist alongside a Level 4, Do Not Travel advisory from the US government and similar guidance elsewhere, covering the entire country for reasons of crime, kidnapping, terrorism, and health. The e-Visa portal, launched 17 August 2023, is the standard route, and every visitor must present a valid e-Visa at the port of entry, checked alongside the mandatory yellow fever vaccination certificate. As of 30 December 2025, Burkina Faso suspended visas for American citizens with limited exceptions, a reciprocal response after the US placed Burkina Faso among countries facing a full entry ban effective 1 January 2026, so US nationals in particular should check directly with the Burkina Faso embassy before assuming any route in still exists.
