Guide
The Dominican Republic has folded three forms into one. The electronic E-Ticket combines the immigration form, the customs declaration, and the health affidavit into a single free online submission that produces a QR code, and it is mandatory for all arrivals, at Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, and everywhere else. The official tourism site says it can be filled in at any time after you have your flight information, so the old 72 hour window no longer applies, but it must be done before you reach the airline counter.
Passports need at least six months of validity. Most visitors from the US, Canada, the UK, and the EU need no visa, and the tourism site describes an exceptional measure allowing nationals of these countries to enter with a passport valid for their stay and departure through 31 December 2026. The tourist card is not a separate purchase. A US$20 departure tax is already included in your airline fare.
Yellow fever proof is required from travelers from specific Brazilian states and from Venezuela, and entry from Equatorial Guinea has been suspended over Marburg virus concerns. Customs allowances include 20 packs of cigarettes, 3 liters of alcohol, and gifts up to 500 US dollars, once per three months.
Border crossings

The Dominican Republic closed all borders with Haiti in September 2023 during a canal dispute, and it has remained officially closed, with reports of limited reopening for essential trade but not for Haitian nationals. Four official crossings exist, Malpasse to Jimaní, Ouanaminthe to Dajabón, Anse-à-Pitres to Pedernales, and Belladère to Comendador. The U.S. Embassy has received reports that U.S. citizens were allowed to enter from Haiti, but tells travelers to monitor local press for the current status.

Airlines want the QR code at the counter, so complete it before you leave for the airport instead of at the airport.

It is built into the ticket, so the tourism site does not describe a separate tourist card payment at the airport.

Yellow fever certificates apply to arrivals from particular places, so look at where you have been, not just where you are flying from.

The published allowances cover cigarettes, alcohol, gifts, and personal use medicines, with a prescription needed for controlled substances.
