Guam runs on the Guam-CNMI Visa Waiver Program, which lets eligible nationalities enter without a visa for stays up to 45 days, provided travel is direct to Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands without transiting through any other part of the United States first, a genuinely important routing detail since a stopover elsewhere in the US can undo the waiver's simplicity. Since 29 November 2024, travelers using this program apply digitally beforehand through the G-CNMI Electronic Travel Authorization, the ETA, a required pre-arrival step rather than something arranged at the airport.
Eligible nationalities need a passport valid for the full duration of the stay meeting machine-readable or biometric standards, and a confirmed onward ticket showing departure within the 45 day window. This program is separate from and narrower than the standard US Visa Waiver Program, so a nationality eligible for the general 90 day US waiver is not automatically covered here on the same terms.
