Honduras is part of the CA-4 Border Control Agreement alongside Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, and most Western passport holders, the US, Canada, UK, EU, and Australia among them, enter visa free under it. The catch that trips up slower overland travelers is that the 90 days is shared across all four countries combined, not 90 days in each one separately, so a trip that spends real time in Guatemala before crossing into Honduras arrives with less of the allowance left, not a fresh count. A passport needs at least three months of validity from arrival, and a single 30 day extension is available if needed.

International arrivals split across three airports, Toncontín in the capital Tegucigalpa, Ramón Villeda Morales in San Pedro Sula, and Juan Manuel Gálvez on Roatán for the Bay Islands specifically. The departure tax runs around 48.44 US dollars, but on major US carriers, American, United, and Delta, it is described as bundled into the ticket price already, so most travelers on those airlines never pay it separately at the airport.
