Isle of Man Travel Guide

The Isle of Man introduced a genuinely new requirement on 23 April 2026: an Electronic Travel Authorisation for passengers arriving directly from outside the Common Travel Area, the CTA, which groups the UK, Ireland, and the three Crown Dependencies together. Non-visa nationals, a category that includes citizens of the US, Canada, and every EU country, now need this ETA for visits of up to six months, and the requirement applies to every traveler regardless of age, infants and children included.

The four CTA jurisdictions, the Isle of Man, the UK, Jersey, and Guernsey, mutually recognize each other's ETAs, so one issued in any of the four is valid for travel to all of them, a genuinely convenient piece of coordination. British and Irish citizens are exempt and travel on their normal passport or accepted government photo ID. From 1 July 2026, a further change removes the old passport vignette for people granted Entry Clearance, replacing it with a digital immigration record that carriers and Border Force officers verify electronically, along with a confirmation letter rather than a physical stamp.
