Kazakhstan's visa free rule has two numbers, and they are easy to mix up. Citizens of about 50 countries can stay up to 30 calendar days on each entry with unlimited entries, but the total period of stay should not exceed 90 calendar days within any 180 day period. The list reported for 2026 includes the United States, all EU member states, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, China, and the UAE, as well as neighbors such as Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Georgia.
Two things are changing. Registration used to be a task for visitors, and current guides describe it as handled electronically, with entry recorded by border control and hotels registering guests automatically, while hosts of private accommodation take responsibility for guests they take in. And a new electronic travel authorization, QazETA, is being phased in for visa free visitors, so check the current requirement before you fly. Those who need a visa can apply for an e-visa through Kazakhstan's migration portal or a consular visa.
Border crossings

One guide says visa free visitors must enter through approved international airports, so a crossing at a small border post is not something to assume.

Kazakhstan borders Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan by land. The sources used here did not give rules for individual crossings, so look up the one you plan to use, particularly for Russia and China, where a separate visa is normally needed for the other side.
