The Marshall Islands runs a generous entry system for many nationalities, 90 days visa free for some, and unlimited period visa-free access for others, alongside a free 90 day visa on arrival for a further group of countries. US citizens specifically enter with no visa at all, a benefit of the Compact of Free Association between the two countries, reflecting the close and long standing relationship rather than a general open door policy. A passport valid for at least six months is required regardless of which category applies to you.
Kwajalein is a special case within the country: travelers heading there need an Entry Authorization issued by the United States Military, obtainable on arrival, since Kwajalein hosts a US military installation and is not treated the same as the rest of the Marshall Islands for entry purposes.
