Guide
Macao runs its own immigration, separate from mainland China's, even though you may walk into it from Zhuhai. Many exempt passports receive 30 days, the EU and Schengen countries and several others receive 90 days, New Zealand citizens receive three months, and British Citizen passports receive six months. The passport should be valid for at least 90 days beyond the planned stay, and visitors are expected to hold a return or onward ticket, with limited exceptions.
Macao also lists subsistence thresholds, from 5,000 to 20,000 patacas depending on the length of stay, and eligible travelers can obtain an Entry Permit, called a visa on arrival, at the visa unit at the border checkpoint. This site's China and Hong Kong guides describe the neighboring systems.

Zhuhai has five immigration control points for Macao: Gongbei Port, cleared from 06:00 to 01:00 the next day, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Zhuhai Port, cleared 08:00 to 22:00, Hengqin Port, Qingmao Port, cleared around the clock, and Wangzai Port, cleared 07:00 to 22:00.

The Macau Outer Harbour and Taipa ferry terminals are described as open 00:00 to 24:00, and the Hong Kong to Macao ferry takes about 55 minutes to Outer Harbour at the fastest.

The first ferry leaves the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal at 07:30 and the last at 22:30, and the average journey is about an hour and a half to Taipa or Outer Harbour.
