Nauru is one of the few Pacific nations with no visa on arrival at all, every visitor, unless from a visa exempt country, has to get the visa arranged before they fly, applied for by emailing Nauru Immigration directly with the necessary details, rather than through a broader online portal. Visas are issued for one, two, or three months, and a passport needs at least three months of validity. Nauru is also one of the smallest countries on earth, so a visit here is a genuinely deliberate trip rather than a stopover.
There is a narrow allowance for onward travelers: a transit visa is not required if your connecting flight leaves within three hours of your arrival in Nauru, useful for anyone routing through rather than stopping, though this is not a long enough window to leave the airport.
