Chad made its e-Visa mandatory in 2026, and the rollout has a hard cutoff worth knowing. From 11 May 2026, every new visa application had to go through the official platform at evisa.td, and from 21 May 2026, any visa issued outside that platform stopped counting as valid for entry. The official guidance suggests applying at least seven days ahead, though the standard process is listed at 10 working days, with an express option available in 72 hours for travelers who need it faster.

Looking further out, Chad's government has announced that citizens of every African nation will be able to enter visa free starting 1 January 2027, though as of this writing the stay length and any registration requirements for that policy had not yet been published, so it is a planned change rather than something to rely on for a 2026 trip. A yellow fever certificate, the ICVP or yellow card, is required of every arriving traveler aged nine months or older, regardless of where they are arriving from or transiting through, checked at a dedicated health checkpoint at N'Djamena's airport.
