Tonga makes its visitor visa about as simple as any in the Pacific, a free 31 day visa on arrival for most travelers from Commonwealth nations, the EU, the US, and many other countries, no advance application, no advance fee, and no complicated paperwork, issued right at the airport. It can be extended for up to six months total if you want to stay longer, with the application going to the Principal Immigration Officer in Nuku'alofa.
A Traveller Service Charge of 25 Tongan pa'anga applies to every traveler leaving the country on an international flight, paid at the airport of departure, a small but real cost worth having in local currency or an accepted card when you leave, separate from the free entry itself.
