Guide
Zimbabwe will sell you a visa on arrival or issue an e-Visa, and if you are also going to Zambia, the KAZA UniVisa is the one to think about. Citizens of more than 100 countries, including most EU states except Cyprus and Malta, the US, Canada, Japan, Australia, and Russia, can get a visa on arrival, generally for 30 days for tourism or business and extendable to 90 for tourism. Citizens of about 40 countries, among them Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia, are visa exempt for up to three months.
The e-Visa is applied for online through Zimbabwe's Department of Immigration, takes about two working days, and is valid for three months from issue. Guides say to keep a passport valid for at least six months, a return ticket, proof of accommodation, and a yellow fever certificate if you are arriving from a risk country.
Border crossings
- Beitbridge, Chirundu, and Kazungula
The main land borders stay open 24 hours according to guides. Beitbridge is the crossing with South Africa, Chirundu with Zambia, and Kazungula sits at the four country quadripoint on the Zambezi.

- Other ports that take the e-Visa
The e-Visa is accepted at Beitbridge, Harare International Airport, Chirundu, Plumtree, Forbes-Mutare, Nyamapanda, Kariba, Victoria Falls, and Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo International Airport in Bulawayo.

Guides put the wait at Harare, Victoria Falls, and Bulawayo at roughly 10 to 20 minutes when documents are complete.
- Buy the KAZA visa where it is sold
It is available at Kazungula, Victoria Falls, and Harare airport, so it is not something you can pick up at every post.
