Overstay penalty
BRL 100Article 109 of the Brazilian Migration Law sets a fine of BRL 100 (roughly USD 18) per day overstayed, capped at BRL 10,000 (roughly USD 1,800) total. A traveler who has overstayed should report to the Federal Police (Policia Federal) before departing and pay the fine there; a separate 30 day foreign national registration rule was reiterated in newly published Federal Police fines as of December 2025, a real, dated administrative update.
