Overstay penalty
USD 50Governed by the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act, No. 12 of 2011. A revised fee schedule effective 1 March 2024 introduced a USD 50 sanction fee for overstaying, though the gazette notice does not clearly state whether that figure is per day or for the whole overstay period; failure to register on time separately incurs KES 10,000 per year of overstay. Beyond the fee, an overstay is unlawful presence and a common basis for being declared an "undesirable person" and deported, with a future entry bar.
