Overstaying can also lead to detention, arrest, or imprisonment for serious or repeated cases, and all outstanding charges must be paid before an exit permit is issued

Declare cash above USD 10,000 combined foreign currency, confirmed directly against Federal Board of Revenue regulations, amounts above this must be declared on arrival; travelers departing Pakistan face a separate USD 5,000 per visit export limit (USD 30,000 annual cap), and local currency (PKR) carried out is capped at PKR 10,000.

Extensions of up to 3 months are available, for a total of 6 months including the initial visa period, with one or two re-entries permitted; apply at a passport office (Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and other major cities each have one), a reported fee of roughly USD 20 applies, processing takes about 7 to 10 working days, apply at least 30 days before the current visa expires
